CONRAD MALDIVES RANGALI ISLAND PARTICIPATES IN WHALE SHARK RESEARCH
The Conrad Maldives Rangali Island is supporting a pioneering study project into whale sharks. Recognised as a ‘vulnerable species’ by the International Union for Conservation of Nature, very little is known about whale sharks, which makes it harder to protect them. The Conrad Maldives Rangali Island will host four environmental experts who will base themselves at the resort to learn more about this mysterious breed, following the whale sharks as they swim along the Maamigili reef. The sharks will be photographed and biopsy samples taken to identify the families before a tag is attached to track them using satellite technology. |
